A key figure in contemporary music and a pioneer of electronic music, Maryanne Amacher made a name for herself in the 1960s for her sound installations and her research into sounds generated directly in the listener’s ear. GLIA (a reference to neurotransmissions in the brain) is one of her major pieces, at the confluence of science, electronic music, and sound art. GLIA, which remained unfinished after her death, is here recreated on stage by the Contrechamps ensemble.
