The legendary German band, led for over forty years by the uncompromising and charismatic Blixa Bargeld, returns to LU after a last date in 2017. Resolutely inventive, libertarian and independent, Einstürzende Neubauten transcends extremes in music that is always at the cutting edge of the avant-garde.
In West Berlin in 1980, in total freedom and deafening noise, Einstürzende Neubauten forged a music based on primal screams, noise and fury, using metal plates, drills, jackhammers and other tools, and quite simply invented industrial music. This strange, aggressive and dizzying contemporary symphony would definitively torpedo krautrock, punk and progressive rock during their Dante-esque concerts. A few decades later, still oscillating between dissonance and consonance, noise and silence, but in a more peaceful and serene form, Blixa Bargeld, accompanied by another founding member, N.U. Unruh, as well as Jochen Arbeit and Rudolf Moser, continues this exciting noisy, melodic and Dadaist adventure.
MEMORIALS are an experimental pop band creating cosmic journeys into psych rock, far-out folk and wild analogue electronics, fired by the spirit of free jazz, drawing comparisons to Broadcast, Portishead and The Velvet Underground. The duo of Verity Susman (Electrelane) and Matthew Simms (Wire) formed in 2022 just before the release of their film score work, with two soundtrack albums released on the same day in 2023 - Music For Film: Tramps! and Music For Film: Women Against The Bomb.
