A young woman emerges from the boot of a car blaring out sub-bass rumblings with all the trappings of a bad boy. Oona Doherty went to meet young men living in the working-class districts of Belfast. She choreographs their fury and provocative gestures, giving voice to their desires and hopes. Committed and ultra-sensitive, this solo—somewhere between hip-hop, contemporary dance and performance—claims the possibility of social emancipation and self-invention through movement.
