In Portuguese, the word borda refers to an embroidery that decorates, a boundary that separates, but also a mirage. A major figure on the Brazilian dance scene, choreographer Lia Rodrigues is a committed artist. In Borda, a ballet featuring nine dancers, she dreams of a world where borders unite rather than divide. They all seek to make these boundaries fluid: grouping together and then dispersing tirelessly, invoking rallying, acceptance, and reaching out to others.
