With L’Enveillée, Juliette Kempf creates an echo chamber, filled with song, silence, and simple gestures to watch over our dead in a new way. Four stories for a ceremony without worship, where the stage becomes a place of passage, a shared breath, without any artifice. The singing comes from the body, from memory, from forgotten rituals. Far from pathos, this theatre-poem seeks out the essence of ritual: to console, connect, and transform. A sensory and intimate journey, in which the audience is invited to care for its own humanity.
