Written for six percussionists, Pléïades (1978) is composer Iannis Xenakis’s most iconic work. Based on polyrhythm, repetition, and the transformation and layering of motifs, this sonic odyssey evokes the dance of the stars and the pulse of the cosmos. Accompanied by the musicians of the Eklekto collective, Cindy Van Acker draws on this to compose a choreographic landscape that is both graphic and geometric, in which five performers confront the score’s power and complexity.
