In her monumental stagecraft, Phia Ménard conjures up powerful symbols that notably criticise patriarchy and capitalism. In Art.13, she takes as her starting point Article 13 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights which deals with the freedom of movement of people. On stage, she is confronted by an enormous statue pedestal in a performance which questions the notion of borders—whether physical or mental—which divide humanity and human beings and limit our thinking.
