Legendary musician, Zakir Hussain, will be accompanied by three of the most respected young musicians in contemporary Indian music to play for Les Orientales festival. This concert is also an invitation for the public to discover the incredible rhythms of the classical Indian repertoire. This master of the tablas and professor emeritus began performing live at the age of 12. He played with Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan before finally being raised to the status of “national Indian treasure” and beginning an international career of his own in the 1970s
