Though we may not know what our relationship with machines will be like tomorrow, percussionist Sylvain Darrifourq – a well-known improviser in the world of contemporary jazz – examines it both playfully and immersively with Fixin Extended. In this installation, Darrifourq stages his own “enhanced” body through digital motors connected to snare drums, tom-toms and cymbals, arranged in a space that one can make out through the minimalist lighting.
