Ravissement

Vanessa Bonnet

It is 1970s in the US, and an event makes headlines: a rich young heiress has been kidnapped by an extreme left-wing group, and she adopts their cause.

By transposing this story into the present-day (here, the heiress is kidnapped by a feminist group), Nantes-based director Vanessa Bonet offers an ironic fable on contemporary capitalism’s survival mechanisms. With this thrilling show, all of which takes place in a single room, Vanessa Bonnet conjures up the voices of past resistances while echoing contemporary struggles.
