Points de non-retour [Quais de Seine]

Alexandra Badea

Born in Romania, Alexandra Badea obtained French nationality in 2013.
With her Points de non-retour trilogy, the director tries to understand her adopted country’s past by examining its dark corners and wounds. In Quais de Seine, the heroine sets out in search of her family’s past and finds herself deeply entrenched in the Algerian War. The objects, notes and photos she finds in her father’s things take her back to the fateful date of 17 October 1961 in Paris where thousands of Algerians who were peacefully demonstrating were violently repressed by the Paris police.
