Winner of the Silver Lion at Venice’s 2018 Dance Biennale, dancer and choreographer Marlene Monteiro Freitas presents her hit Of Ivory and Flesh- Statues Also Suffer : a supercharged, larger-than-life performance.
Inspired by the myth of Pygmalion and the film Les statues meurent aussi by Alain Resnais and Chris Marker, Marlene Monteiro Freitas conjures up “ivory and meat” in a mad ball where extravagant figures rub shoulders and a carnivalesque bout of delirium leaves no one indifferent.
