Learning from the Future + Pode Ser
Colette Sadler + Leïla Ka
Solo performances in dance are often a means for an artist to consider the body as a nexus of tensions ranging from symbolic to meaningful, and political to historical. Few better examples of this can be found than these two finely-tuned female solo shows.
As for Colette Sadler, she ventures into the realm of science fiction with her piece Learning from the Future: a fascinating performance exploring the disappearance of the human body.
Drawing from her career as a dancer, Leïla Ka presents Pode Ser (“could be” in Portuguese), which flirts freely with different choreographic genres.
