Born in Nairobi, KMRU is a sound artist and producer who enhances his music with field recordings, improvisation, noise, radio art and drone. Straddling the line between ambient and African music, KMRU explores sounds that can awaken intense emotions in listeners. In 2020, he released Peel, an LP of hypnotic drones, Opaquer, a living yet dreamlike sound sculpture, and Jar, a cassette interlacing the warmth of analogue tones with recorded sounds.
