Kaija Saariaho is the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire’s associated composer, and a major figure of contemporary music in her own right. For le lieu unique, she will be performing her end-of-residency concert with three pieces that are indicative of her vast body of work, performed by the musicians of the ONPL. Although her work draws its inspiration from medieval legends and mythology, her music ventures towards resolutely modern sounds where traditional instruments and electronic music come together in perfect harmony.
