Guitar Hero, music for guitar and orchestra – Thibaut Cauvin
préLUdes #3: discover the classical repertoire through contemporary performers
The Orchestre national des Pays de la Loire and le lieu unique have created a new event called Point d’orgue: a thematic night where listeners discover the classical repertoire through contemporary performers. For this first encounter, they will play Beethoven’s Symphony n° 3: “Eroica”, a resolutely innovative ode to heroism. Energetic and brazen French radio host Clément Lebrun will be the master of ceremonies, offering ways to interpret the work.
For this third préLUdes event, the ONPL has invited Thibault Cauvin (36-year-old guitarist with an impressive collection of international prizes) for a journey across different historical eras (baroque to the present) through a concerto for guitar. As the artist behind the acclaimed recording The Vivaldi Album, in which he presents concertos for lute and mandolin by baroque composer Vivaldi, he will open his concert with a work by the Venetian master. This will be followed with pieces by Joaquín Rodrigo and other notable works for guitar.
