For almost 30 years, Editions Mego (the Vienna-based label) has been pushing the boundaries of electronic music – as is still the case with these two emblematic artists. Austria’s Fennesz – a leading figure in ambient music – emits graceful melodies and haunting motifs in airy and rough waves, solo or with Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jim O’Rourke or David Sylvian. For her part, Italian Caterina Barbieri moulds the textures of her modular synthesizers or her voice, leading everyone into a collective trance.
