Contemporary American music legend and pioneer of extended vocal technique, Meredith Monk, often makes music from metaphysical questions.
In this contemplative work, Monk and the women of her vocal ensemble weave their voices together with piano, violin and keyboard to create shimmering, multi-dimensional musical forms, evoking such biological processes as layering, replication, division and mutation.
Cellular Songs : Concert Version focuses on the essence of our existence and looks to underlying systems in nature that can serve as a prototype for human behavior in our tumultuous world.
