With Ainsi la Bagarre (“So, the fight begins”) director and actor Lionel Dray – alongside musician Clémence Jeanguillaume – develops the poetic art of mundane banalities into mysterious and burlesque events. Based as much on Kafka’s work as on his complicated love life, the clown duo creates a theatrical cabinet of curiosities that questions humanity’s ability to communicate with others. This absurd world is teeming with cinematic influences, from Buster Keaton to Jacques Tati.
